Today was a day of friendship, both new and old! I'm pretty sure I have two new friends, because earlier today Mr. Random Generator helped me draw the names of the two winners of my Celebrate Red, White, and Blue Blog Hop giveaways. To see my blocks and read all about the RWB blog hop click here.
Beth from WI and Kristy from CA! I've already contacted them by email and I think it is an understatement to say they were both pretty pleased. They'll each receive a bundle of 3 fat quarters: red, white, and blue. Don't we all love to get new fabric? I also want to wish you all a huge thank you for visiting my blog and sending along your wonderful comments. I wish everyone could be a winner!
Make sure you visit the RWB blog hop every day...still lots of time left to enjoy some fantastic creations, tutorials, and giveaways. Host Jane at Jane's Fabrics and Quilts is keeping everything running like clockwork. The hop runs through to July 16 and you can see all the blocks at Madame Samm's Pinterest site right here. Does this block look a little familiar?
I was pleased as punch and tickled pink to see that Wendy of Why Knot Kwilt was inspired by the pinwheel block I posted on July 1. I love how Wendy took the design a little further and made it her own with those brilliant streamers! I think that's the beauty of this hop...it's all about sharing and creativity and inspiration! Make sure you do some hopping and make some new friends along the way!
Now, getting back to friends, new and old...this day started off with the arrival of a very special package addressed to me with a unique return address...this package was sent all the way from Quilt Lane, home of Sharon of Vrooman's Quilts. From a few emails back and forth, a few comments on our blogs over the last few months, and an uncanny way of sending an email in the middle of the night and getting a reply, Sharon and I have become blog friends. And today, Sharon really cemented my admiration for her...this is what she sent me, just out of the blue, for no good reason other than to pay it forward to a fellow quilt blogger...
This fat quarter is like one I have never seen before...it is map fabric, and it contains the community where Sharon lives! How neat is that! The card is a gift itself...Lady of the Lake by Rebecca Barker's Quiltscapes...gotta love this one! It will go on my bulletin board in my sewing corner, but that's not all that arrived from Quilt Lane...
Yep, my very own Santa! As host of the upcoming Think Christmas blog hop created by Madame Samm, I am dreaming about Santas almost every waking moment. But do you think she sent me only one Santa?
No, she filled the package with Santas! She picked up this fabric from Connecting Threads. It's called Sweet Saint Nick by Maryjo Tuttle. And can you imagine what someone who loves Santas is going to do with all these cuties? Stay tuned, and Think Christmas! Thank you so much Sharon, I'm still grinning from ear to ear, and I've almost forgotten that I'm sleep-deprived today!
Before this day was out, yet another gesture of friendship came my way by a wonderful friend who knocked on my door early this evening and gifted me with a pattern for a Pinnafore Bag, a Me and My Sister design. Love this design, and I can't wait to go through my fabrics and play! My friend recently travelled across the border and thought of me as she visited some neat little quilt shops. Isn't she a sweetie!
So, it's all about friends today, new and old. I had an awesome day today and it's always a great day for quilting!
