About a month ago, my new blog friend Sharon, at Vroomans Quilts, gifted me with a wonderful Santa panel she purchased called Sweet St. Nick. ( If you've been hopping, you've already seen a great little block made with this fabric by Deborah).
Sometimes I am a procrastinator, but this fabric was just too cute to sit in my cupboard. So off I went, with coordinating fabrics from my stash in hand, to make a couple of blocks that I hoped would be deemed worthy of this Think Christmas Blog Hop.
Meet "Santa 4 Me!"
Of course I made my block into a table topper...you knew I would! I cut out 4 little Santas, framed them with some Christmas red from my stash, fussy cut a really tiny tree for the center, added some snowflakes, framed it again with the red, and finished it off with some yummy polka dot fabric. Do you think this qualifies for an entry into Dots on Dots?
I added lots of hand quilting. It was so easy to do with this panel...I just followed the lines!
Because I love Christmas so much, I certainly had to use Christmas fabric on the back. So I made a 9-patch block, using those snowflakes again, added some bright red Christmas text fabric, and of course made a fabric hanger.
I cut the panel fabric so that the Santa would still have the tartan frame, added some polkadots, again, added a pieced border, and finished it off with more polkadots. I am loving these dots!
As for the back, some more Christmas text...
Now for my third block...are you seeing a pattern? Santas...polkadots...hand quilting....
Ta da! Here is "Santa Lesley"...
As many of you may know by now, Think Christmas creator Madame Samm created a Santa signature just for me! So when it arrived as a jpg, my head started spinning...how could I turn this into a block? I printed the graphic on printer fabric sheets, pieced together a block, embroidered my signature, and did some hand quilting.
Hope you like it, even a little bit, because this is going to be my Giveaway for one of my readers. Just leave a comment on this post by August 7 at 12:00 midnight AST and you will qualify for the draw of this Santa Lesley block. And there just might be a few Christmas fat quarters in the package as well!
The back was made using fabric just full of vintage Santas...
