As part of Leaf Me Happy, I offered a giveaway for a kit including the pattern and fabric to make the top for a little table runner.
The winner of the kit, as chosen by Mr. Random Generator, is comment #185, Vicki. I have sent Vicki an email to get her contact information, and once received, will send the kit along. Congratulations, Vicki, I hope you'll send me a picture of your table runner when you finish it!
In between reading the wonderful emails,I decided to go to my stash and make a little table runner for me as well. I did make a few small changes to the pattern, sandwiched it, and did some machine quilting. I then ran around the house taking pictures in every conceivable light, but the truest color of the table runner was actually in the picture that I took outside on a cloudy day...and it still doesn't quite do it justice. The "pinks" are actually rusts, or pumpkin colors, and the greens are much darker.
Aren't the Mums gorgeous! I picked up the potted plant at the local grocery store. They certainly brighten up the picture! I used stitch in the ditch and a little bit more for the machine quilting. I hope to grow more creative with my next project.
I found a warm brown in my stash for the backing, attached a tag, and the runner is on my living room coffee table as we speak.
If you missed my blog hop day, it was on October 1 and you can visit my "leafy" blocks by clicking here. There you will also be able to read all about Madame Samm's Leaf Me Happy blog hop that is continuing through to October 10 (excluding weekends). Take a peek at the buttons on my side bar to link to some of the other upcoming blog hops...there is something for everyone!
We are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend in Canada, so lots of food, company, and family. The chocolate chip cookies are made, the pizza crust is rising, and the prime rib is ready to be thawed for tomorrow's dinner. Most people have turkey, but there is nothing better than a prime rib dinner in our house!
Thanks for coming by. It's a great day for quilting!
